With all the changes and transformations Disneyland has endured throughout its more than five decades of existence, many attractions unfortunately have gone by the wayside. However, not all originality is lost as there are still many attractions in the park today that were present on opening day – July 17th, 1955.

I was able to visit The Haunted Mansion at Disneyland in Anaheim three times last Thursday and Friday, enjoying the Nightmare before Christmas holiday overlay that Disney Imagineers install every year from October to just after the New year. Every time I visit what has become one of my favorite Disneyland attractions, I secretly wish I could just walk through the mansion after the park closes, so I can take my time looking at every detail.

Move over princess Ariel and make room for Tinker Bell. A new “meet-and-greet” area called Pixie Hollow has taken the place of Ariel’s Grotto which is located near the Matterhorn Bobsleds. Here you’ll be able to meet Tinker Bell in person which of course will offer excellent photo opportunities.

Each year it seems that Disneyland takes on more of a Halloween image starting in the latter part of September and running through the beginning of November. It is no different this year and Lorren Au, a staff photographer at the Orange County (CA) Register recently captured some of this Disney Halloween magic on film.

Blue Sky Cellar is scheduled to open Monday, October 20 and will be a preview center of what is new and what is in store for the expansion of the Disneyland Resort. It is to be located in the former Seasons of the Vine Theater in the California Adventure theme park located in Anaheim, California.

It is officially refurbishment season for Disneyland resort. And while it’s a great time to avoid large crowds, be ready to see a lot of construction in the process. If you don’t mind not being able to enjoy some of your favorite attractions, you will most certainly enjoy shorter waits for more popular attractions.

Mark your calendars for Sunday October 5. That is when Hannah Montana star, Miley Cyrus will be holding her sweet sixteen birthday party at where else – Disneyland. The event is scheduled from 6pm – 11pm in which Disneyland will close an hour prior and only open back up to those who are invited.

Each year, many people from all over the world make the decision to visit Disneyland Resort in Anaheim during their vacation time. If you have small children and/or don’t plan properly, a visit to the resort can quickly become anything but a vacation. What is supposed to be a fun day (or days) can leave you completely exhausted and in need of another vacation just to recover from your first.
